Once again I'm submitting my objection to the construction of the biodigester.
LOCATION Absolutely the wrong place to build something like this, needs to be a much more rural location, away from the town gateway, miles away from communities, public houses, livelihoods, wildlife, walkers, cyclists, narrow rural roadways, a nursery, dog walkers and community hubs like the Epicentre.
Livelihoods will certainly be lost from locating something like this close to the White Horse PH in Withersfield and Flying Shuttle PH - their businesses, particularly the White Horse, will certainly close with the impact of lorries, smells and noise.
TRAFFIC
Our village location and main road to Haverhill are not suitable for the inevitable heavy farm vehicles that will certainly be used to transport to and from the digester "Most traffic will not go through Withersfield" obviously implies that some will!!
SMELLS
Inevitable spills from lorries will attract flies and foul smells. "putrid and vile" as residents at other biodigester locations have stated. Air quality will be affected, affecting all of us locally, but will have particular impact on the local nursery which may then face closure as result - who'd want their babies & young children breathing in those by-products?
ENVIRONMENT
The proposed site is partly situated on flood zone 3 ans as the site would be concreted, this will propose additional flooding potential, not to mention spillage potential into the River Stour, affecting local flora & fauna.
EXPLOSION RISK FROM LIGHTNING
As extreme as it would seem, this is obviously a real risk as we've seen recently:
"There has been a huge explosion on the outskirts of Oxford after lightning struck a tank at a food waste recycling plant.
Lightning struck what's known as a digester tank at the food waste recycling firm, Severn Trent Green Power in Yarnton.
Police and 40 firefighters from Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue are at the scene, and local residents who live nearby are urged to stay at home and keep doors and windows closed"
It's absolutely wrong on every level to even consider siting this digester here.
