I object to the proposed development of an anaerobic digester at Spring Grove Farm, Withersfield, primarily for two reasons:
- The proposed site is situated alongside the A1307 and will increase traffic disruption due to the increase in HGVs and farm vehicles entering and leaving the site. The A1307 has been designated a high casualty route, so increasing the risks of collisions by allowing slower moving vehicles and farm traffic to enter the road directly should be avoided
- The unpleasant smells and potential discharge of hazardous chemicals (such as methane and hydrogen sulfide) into an area with a nearby housing estate and business park should be avoided at all costs. Not only will this have a potential impact on the health of nearby residents, but potential businesses will be less likely to acquire office space in the nearby Epicentre, having a detrimental impact on jobs in Haverhill.
A more practical site should be considered
