I am very strongly opposed to this planning application on a number of grounds.
The proposed location beggars belief. The land area is adjacent to the Haverhill flood relief area and apart from the obvious risks of pollution the enormous biodigester tanks will be an eyesore and a major inconvenience for any homeowner, employer, prospective employer and every resident in the area.
The expected increase in vehicle usage (farm traffic, tankers, the associated construction staff and then the site employees) will be forced upon local villages, with some of the worst transport links in the country, on roads that are totally unsuitable for any increase in traffic. This usage will negate any so-called 'green' benefits.
The economic and environmental grounds for this development are a joke. The developers, land owners and operators are very obviously trying to make money by green-washing. The main end product, bio-methane, is not a 'green' fuel and the loss of agricultural land and the growing of crops specifically to feed this digester is a very poor way of using agricultural land.
The sight, smells and light pollution of this site are all huge negatives for the local residents. A high percentage of the new homes being constructed in the Haverhill area will be close to this site and will be blighted by this proposed operation.
