I have a number of objections to this proposal:
1: Location /Smell. The location appears to be far too close to the residential edge of Haverhill, and with the prevailing wind coming from that location to Haverhill, the smell will likely be often unbearable, preventing the use of home outdoor leisure spaces, particularly during summer months. I have driven past the similar Bio site near Royston many times and the smell has often been so bad I felt like retching. The Royston location is much further from residential areas so the smell, although appalling, is only experienced for a short while on the journey.....which would not be the case for Haverhill residents on the west side of town.
2. Flood risk - The report states that that there will be no increase to flood risk . However this area is designated Flood Zone 3 which means there is a high probability of transient flooding. The building of the Acorn site will surely increase with all the hard standing/ construction materials used in what is a greenfield site.
3. Road access to the A1307 and the volume of farm vehicles and gas transfer vehicles (especially during the harvest periods) would in all probability result in more accidents as large, heavy, slow vehicles attempt to pull out to join the A1307.
4. (Lack of) benefit to the local community. This at best is limited as the operational site will only employ 5 staff and in all probability these will not be recruited locally. None of the generated energy profit will be available to the Haverhill community. The only local organisation that appears to benefit is the local landowner via use of the site and the free slurry.
I truly believe that this proposed facility is in the wrong location, far too close to Residential Haverhill and it would further reduce the attraction of the town to new residents and new business.
