We urgently need to step up support for greener alternatives to AD, by redirecting the millions in public subsidies demanded by the AD industry don't we? The tonnes of CO2 the proposed anaerobic digester plans to save every year would certainly be omitted by the thousands of tonnes of CO2 that would be emitted during its construction and transportation needs, taking many years to offset. This planned anaerobic digester will bring dangerous amounts of lorry traffic to narrow country roads and further an industrial development on land that was in the countryside. Dozens of HGVs will add to the traffic on both unsuitable roads and an already congested main road every day, risking further head-on collisions on a high fatality route. There seems to be no material considerations, or public benefit, which outweigh the development's plan. It would provide maximum impact with zero benefit to the local community.
The incidents at AD plants have included: poor containment, odour, combustion exhaust gases, emissions to water, dust, vermin, noise, litter and light pollution. How does that deserve public subsidy?
