I object to the anaerobic digestion facility at Spring Grove Farm, WIthersfield.
The smell generated from this will be horrendous for residents. Regardless of any comments in the impact assessment stating it as 'not significant', there is evidence to the contrary available in respect of other sites of this nature already operating. The smell omitted is foul, horrific and far reaching.
The 'site and surroundings document' refers to the site being on the outskirts of Haverhill. It states that Hanchett End (a more densely populated residential area) is located at a distance of approximately 500 metres to the South East of the proposed development. The nearest human receptor is 245 metres away, with other residential homes within 400 metres. We have a substantial number of residential homes and business premises within 1 mile (and much closer) to the proposed facility. The smell is going to have a devastating and detrimental impact on thousands of residents.
The site will be located adjacent to the Flood / West Town Park as well as a number of footpaths and Trails that I and many other dog walkers, hikers etc use. The Smell, noise and size of the facility will have an adverse impact and people will not be able to continue to enjoy what is currently a lovely and picturesque area.
The Traffic statement states there will be as much as 58 HGV / Tractor movement per day for 10 months of the year and up to 148 HGV / Tractor movements during the peak periods. This is substantial and will significantly increase the volume on an already busy and dangerous road. It confirms that traffic from local farm hubs will see likely routes including Silver Street, Skippers Lane, Common Road, Dean Road and West Wickham Road etc. These are all small roads that go through villages and will further impact residents. They are also used frequently by cyclists.
The proposed location is within a designated Flood Zone 3 and a greater probability of flooding.
In a recent letter you sent out, you state that effects on a property value is not a planning consideration. This is easy to say when it's not your property value that will be significantly impacted by a facility of this nature. This will have a substantial impact with many homes being valued significantly less, and in some cases where properties are within close proximity, owners will not even be able to sell their house should they need to move. One of the main assets people work hard to achieve is owning their own home. Therefore, impact on property value is important and should not be dismissed. Residents should not suffer a financial loss to the value of their homes due to this.
This is completely the wrong location. A facility of this nature and size needs to be in an actual rural location and several miles away from residential and commercial buildings.
