I strongly object to the proposed Anaerobic Digestion Facility being considered so close to one of Suffolk's largest towns - Haverhill, and in sight of the historic village of Withersfield, - it is a well proven fact that Anaerobic Digestion Plants give off an abhorrent smell, which could become detrimental to local residents, also how can we be sure that the gases released are not harmful to our long term health. The stated figure of 148 lorry/tractor movements per day visiting the Digestion plant will massively increase the traffic on the A1307, which already has high levels of lorries from the warehouses situated in Haverhill, (for example Culina have a lorry movement every 6 minutes), and coupled with the increasing commuter traffic to and from Cambridge travelling on this route will become intolerable. I have been given to understand that the proposed Digestion site is in a designated Flood Zone 3 area, with high probability of flooding, which being in close proximity to the Stour brook and the West Town Park would become a threat to the wild habitat in the area. Why has an alternative site not been considered such as West Wratting Airfield which I believe is a brownfield site.? As a local resident I am also alarmed that the proposed site will be a blot on the landscape to the entrance of Haverhill, and in particular will have a negative affect on the EPI Centre and the expanding Arboretum Housing Development, both of which will be directly visually in line with the proposed Anaerobic Digestion site.
