I would like raise the following concerns with this planning application.
Traffic - at peak times in June/July they have advised that there will be an additional 148 lorry/tractor movements -a day. The main road is already overloaded with commuters & lorries so further traffic will cause gridlock on the single carriageway out of Haverhill towards Cambridge.
Flood risk: This area is designated Flood Zone 3 which means there is a high probability of flooding. In the recent storms this area has completely flooding blocking parts of the main road. How can you even contemplate building such a site on this type of Flood zone.
Environmental impact - it is too near to the Stour brook and on the edge of West Town Park. This is a threat to both wild habitats and public space. Something which the council should be keen to protect. Haverhill does not have many public spaces so it is horrendous to think the few we have will be ruined by this development.
Employment benefits - the site will only employ 5 people so absolutely no benefit to the town.
It is about time Suffolk Council tried to develop Haverhill more positively but this is definitely NOT the way to progress.
