Having now had the chance to review this applicaon I object to this applicaon on the following basis:-
Traffic 6
Base Line condions - Whilst the informaon as recorded appears to be ok, we must not under esmate how busy the A1307 is at any me of the day! This road is already at saturaon point & to increase traffic flow especially HGV is unacceptable. With the increased traffic already due too much needed housing development the A1307 must be one of the busiest roads south of Cambridge. I find it somewhat concerning that there were no recorded Traffic flows between 8.00am - 9.00am.
Proposed operaon - Whilst I agree that the movements of traffic will be approx. 26 movements each day based on the informaon provided represenng an increase of 5% this cannot be guaranteed! The flow rates rise to approx. 70 - 80 each day during the months of June to July making an increase of 10%. However, farmers are sll harvesng during August & some as early as June & late as September. This represents 30% of the year! In addion, given that the plant will be operaonal 24 hours a day the noise from the vehicles will be heard, especially in the summer months when residents are likely to have their windows open.
Locaon
The actual locaon of this proposed development is far too close to the residents in or around Withersfield especially the Aboretum & ideally would be beter to be placed at least 2km away. Whilst I accept that this digester plant will be good for the economy & create a greener energy the owners of the plant cannot guarantee that the conversion poultry waste & Farmyard Manures will be limited to 15,000 & 10000 tonnes per annum respecvely. It just won't happen! The smell from this waste at this distance as indicated will be unbearable especially during the months of June - September when families will be outside in their Gardens & their windows are open.
Conclusion
If this development is to be seriously considered it must be on the basis of the restricted HGV traffic especially during the months of June to September & that the plant will only process "CROP" based products only!
