I think this applicant is a terrible idea. Positioned on the 'gateway to Haverhill' people will be greated with disputing smells, heavy vehicle traffic and unsightly industrial buildings. Haverhill research park with suffer as a consequence as no one in the right mind would pay to rent space so close to this. We should be making the town more appealing to attract investment and employment and this is not the answer. The environmental reports hardly provide much confidence regarding the smells and air quality. Many statements in the reports use phrases such as 'likely not to be a problem'. I think we need facts and evidence to support this and the closest evidence I'm aware of is Baldock which certainly doesn't match the statements in the reports. The site is also poor location as the prevailing winds come from the West blowing smells into the town. With the sewer works smells on one side of Haverhill and this the other it makes for an unpleasant times ahead. Recent issues in the news of similar plant catching fire is also a safety concern. I strongly object to this application. Would the councillors except this on the Gateway to Bury?
