I would like to strongly object to this planning application due to the following reasons ;
Increased traffic - there will be an increased amount of traffic on the A1307. I work in Hertfordshire and travel on this road regularly . The road is already congested and I am concerned that this will lead to further delays and increased risk of accidents on this ' high casualty ' route.
Smell- unfortunately , I regularly travel on the A505 so I know first hand the smells that can be emitted from a biogas plant . This proposed plant is close to residential areas plus I run through Hanchett End most days , and regularly walk at Meldham Wash and use the public footpaths to Withersfield and Horseheath .
Noise - The 24 hour operation will cause noise pollution in the local area , this will impact local residents, walkers, fishermen Meldham Wash and those using The Flying Shuttle.
Flood risk- there is an increased flood risk , replacing a natural landscape with hardstanding . I understand that areas of the site are Flood Risk Category 3. I have witnessed this area flooding several times already this year and as we all know, these events are going to become more commo.
Impact on the town - I am concerned that the biogas plant being built will have an adverse impact on the town . The number of jobs it is going to bring in will not compensate for the impact that it will have on the local residents and economy .
