I strongly object to this proposal, my key concerns are:
- Environmental damage, especially flooding on land that is a recognised flood plain. The risk of toxic waste getting into the Stour Brook, which endangers wildlife and dogs - there are cases where dogs have died from drinking/ swimming in contaminated water.
- Traffic - huge increase in lorry movements, and the impact on the Spirit of Enterprise roundabout, the roads will suffer damage, especially verges and the road surface. Any accidents will block the A1307 for access by ambulances and other emergency vehicles. This on a route which is already highlighted as dangerous! I feel the number of lorry movements has been greatly underestimated by Acorn.
- Smell - I am not convinced that this site will not smell! Evidence from other sites shows that this is not true, and again, Acorn have not been honest on the odours that will come from a digester site. Jaynic have already had an odour survey undertaken and it has shown that there will be odours.
- Location - far too near a populated area - only 600 meters from a business centre homes and a nursery - Acorn say it is 3 kilometres from the centre of Haverhill - but they are far too close to houses on Arboretum!!! On coming into Haverhill this will be prominent as people come in to one of the biggest towns in Suffolk. If there was ever a decision to install a rail link, this site will completely block land that could be used for this purpose.
