To: Andrew Rutter, case officer, Suffolk County Council
Application Number: SCC/0045/23SE
construction and operation of an anaerobic digestion facility, associated infrastructure and new
access road, connecting pipeline and covered digestate lagoons
Applicant: Acorn Bioenergy Limited/ Thurlow Estate.
Dear Sir
I wish to strongly object to the proposed development of an anaerobic digester at Spring Grove Farm
Haverhill.
Now aged 61 and having lived in Haverhill my whole life, it is clear to me that the proposed site is
totally inappropriate for a number of reasons, which include the high potential risk of noise pollution,
unpleasant smells and an increase in unnecessary traffic.
This combined with the idea of building a visually intrusive facility at the entrance to the main route
into Haverhill, a town with a population of around 30,000 is quite frankly astounding.
Particularly as it is seen as the Gateway to the Town, and marked by its Spirit of Enterprise
sculpture at the roundabout next to site.
While this facilty may be seen as enterprising to some, and has a place in the greater scheme of things,
this proposed site is quite simply not it.
With no real benefit to the people of Haverhill, the consideration of such a project on a site that has
clear evidence of flooding issues, seems not only reckless, but as a long standing member of this community,
I find it disrespectful and deeply concerning.
Regards Derek Richardson
